1956 Ban Johnson Championship League Figural Trophy

Extremely impressive and large silver-plated metal trophy, dating from 1956, is designed with a Ruthian figure atop a pedestal. This is a big trophy, standing a full twenty-eight inches tall. The front is engraved "BAN JOHNSON LEAGUE CHAMPIONS 1956 - PRESENTED IN APPRECIATION TO LEW DENNY MANAGER" and the wider silver-plated base is engraved "PRESENTED BY - AMERICAN LEAGUE - TO - KATZ DRUG COMPANY." The single column pedestal is flanked on both sides by an eagle standing atop a round ball. The trophy is mounted on a rectangular black wood base (9.5 x 13.5 inches). The batter has some areas of tarnish, and there are a few very minor scuffs and scratches to the black paint of the base, but overall this imposing, rare, and very unusual 1950s trophy is in Excellent condition.
