Three Dave Parker Portrait Oil Paintings (3)
Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $580.00
Three original oil on panel portrait paintings of Dave Parker by renowned portrait artist and football Hall of Famer Tommy McDonald. Each features Parker at a different stage of his career in a different uniform. These three portraits originate from the personal collection of Dave Parker. Tommy McDonald began his career as a portrait artist after meeting a fan who presented him with a painting of himself. McDonald was quoted at the time as saying, "Of all the watches and the plaques and trophies that you get, this is a little more unique." This is how the seed was planted for McDonald to pursue portrait painting after his retirement from professional football. McDonald has painted portraits of many professional athletes over the years. He has also been commissioned to produce portraits of Heisman Trophy winners for New York's Downtown Athletic Club, football All-Americans for the University of Oklahoma, and first-year participants in Major League Baseball's All-Star Game. These three paintings each feature Parker in a different uniform, representing three of the six teams he played for during his nineteen seasons in the Major Leagues: the Pittsburgh Pirates (1973-1983), Cincinnati Reds (1984-1987), and Milwaukee Brewers (1990). Each is signed "T. McDonald" in the lower right. These are stunning paintings. Each is in Mint condition. Dimensions: 13.5 x 10.5 inches. Each is beautifully matted and framed to total dimensions of 21 x 18 inches. Total 3 paintings. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $580.00
