Autographed KC Monarchs Negro League Display (89 Signatures)
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $928.00
Extraordinary signed tribute to the legendary Negro Leagues features a non-vintage photographic print of the 1941 Kansas City Monarchs, champions of the Negro American League, with eighty-nine signatures of Negro League veterans, including approximately forty deceased stars, appearing on the surrounding mat. The signatures are of players of all eras and teams. Included are five players who were actually on the 1941 championship Kansas City Monarchs team. Those players are Willie Simms, Frank Bradley, Buck O'Neill, Frank Duncan Jr., and Connie Johnson. Included among the eighty-four additional Negro League stars are George Altman, Gene Baker, Ernie Banks, Double Duty Radcliffe, Frank Barnes, Nat Gulley, Lefty LaMarque, Bill Owens, Bob Thurman and Frazier Robinson. A complete list of all players is available upon request. A few of the signatures are in felt tip, but most are ballpoint. Obviously a great deal of time and energy went into the creation of this display, and the players apparently appreciated this, as all have carefully signed, with signatures neat and very legible (all "8" or better). Professionally matted and framed to total dimensions of 13.5 x 23.5 inches. Near Mint to Mint condition. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $928.00
