Circa 1952 Gil Hodges Chesterfield Poster

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $696.00

Spectacular full-color advertising display (21 x 22 inches) features Brooklyn Dodger great Gil Hodges endorsing Chesterfield Cigarettes. This is one of a series of posters issued by Chesterfield in the late 1940s and early 1950s featuring ballplayers. All of these posters are highly prized by both baseball and advertising collectors. These colorful posters were hung in train stations, on newsstands, and in retail outlets. They are among the scarcest and most desirable advertising pieces of the era. Minor flaws include a few surface wrinkles, a light stain in the upper right, and three pieces of tape attached along the top, but these imperfections are relatively minor and the poster displays beautifully. Extremely bold colors. Printed on heavy cardboard. Very Good to Excellent condition. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $696.00
