1950 Bowman Baseball Advertising Poster

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $2,610.00

Extremely rare 1950 Bowman advertising poster features images of six first-series cards, including #56 Del Crandell, 57 Vern Bickford, 58 Carl Furillo, 65 Dave Koslo, 66 Larry Jansen, and 67 Willie Jones. The poster, designed to hang in candy store windows, announced to the world that the new baseball set was finally available, in packs containing six cards and two pieces of gum for a nickel. The full-color poster is in Mint condition and still has the original light strips of glue on each side completely intact, which allowed it to adhere to the candy store window. Bowman issued advertising posters in 1949 and 1950. To the best of our knowledge, these are the only two years in which Bowman issued store display posters advertising their baseball card sets. Because of their intended use, it is understandable that few of these point-of-sale advertising displays have survived. We have seen fewer than five examples of this rare Bowman poster over the past thirty-five years. Dimensions: 31 x 6 inches. Beautifully framed to total dimensions of 24 x 9 inches. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $2,610.00
