Pre-1900 Card Collection of 5 Including 4 Hall of Famers

Starting Bid - $800.00, Sold For - $3,480.00

Collection of four Hall of Famers and one non-Hall of Famer from five different classic nineteenth-century issues. Three of the five cards have been graded and encapsulated by SGC. 1) 1887 N284 Gold Coin: Cap Anson - hands outstretched (VG 40). 2) 1888 "Scrapps": Dan Brouthers (Gd condition due to small areas of minor flaking, crease, and scrapbook paper on reverse, but still a very nice looking card with no staining). 3) 1889 N29 Allen & Ginter: Wm. Ewing (VG 40, no creases, square corners, downgraded due to very light stain in upper left on front and light glue stain on reverse, otherwise has Ex appearance). 4) 1888 N162 Goodwin Champions: Jack Glasscock (VG/EX 50, Nr/Mt front, hint of surface abrasion in small area on back lessens boldness of reverse checklist text in this area. Extremely harshly graded). 5) 1895 N300 Mayo's Cut Plug: Cap Anson (Gd-Vg with slightest touch of color added near the top border, still a very nice looking card). This is a very impressive collection of pre-1900 Hall of Famers, most with eye appeal far superior to their technically accurate grades. Total 5 cards. Reserve $800. Estimate $1,500/$2,500. SOLD FOR $3,480.00
