1956 Gail Harris NY Giants Game-Used Road Flannel Jersey
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,856.00
New York Giants road jersey worn by first baseman Gail Harris during the 1956 season. Gail Harris played six seasons in the Major Leagues, including three seasons with the NY Giants from 1955 to 1957. He enjoyed his best season in 1958 with the Tigers, hitting twenty home runs and eighty-three RBIs. In the neck of the jersey is a grey felt patch with the name "Harris" in black chain stitching. On the left front tail is the "Tim McAuliffe" manufacturer's tag. Stitched below the manufacturer's tag is "44 3in 56" denoting jersey size, extra body length, and year, respectively. "New York" is across the front of the jersey in the classic "Old English" font which was used by the franchise dating back to the 1930s. The player number "15" is on the reverse. All letters and numbers are in black on orange felt. The jersey shows light game-use and has no alterations of any kind. This flannel is a very scarce, high demand style dating from the glory days of baseball in New York in the 1950s. SCD Authentic Grade: A10. LOA from Dave Bushing & Dan Knoll/SCD Authentic. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,856.00
