1994 Paul O'Neill New York Yankees Road Jersey and Cleats

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $5,800.00

New York Yankees game-used road jersey worn by Paul O'Neill in 1994, accompanied by a signed pair of game-used cleats from the 1999 season. A descendent of Mark Twain, Paul O'Neill earned All-State honors in high school in both baseball and basketball. Like many exceptional left-handed batters, Paul drew comparisons to Ted Williams in his youth. Although he once carried a .400 batting average into mid-June, it was the intensity that O'Neill brought to his at-bats, which most reminded people of the "Splendid Splinter." On the left front tail of the jersey is the "Russell Athletic" label with the size "48." Adjacent to this are the "100% Polyester" and "2" Extra Length" flag tags. Also adjacent is a white tag reading "O'Neill-94." Across the front of the jersey is the name "New York" in block lettering, and on the back is the player number "21." All letters and numbers are blue on white tackle twill. On the right sleeve of the jersey is the "125th Anniversary" patch. The jersey shows light game use. SCD Authentic Grade: A5. The autographed cleats were worn by O'Neill during the 1999 season. Each cleat is signed "Paul O'Neill 21" in silver marker and the signatures grade "8." O'Neill's player number "21" is stitched on each heel of the size 11 Nike cleats. The cleats exhibit excellent game use, including remnants of infield dirt well-worn into the spikes on the bottom. LOAs from Dave Bushing/SCD Authentic and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $5,800.00
