Circa 1910 Apollinaris Spring Water Advertising Display
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $290.00
Extremely rare self-framed advertising display in promotion of Apollinaris spring water features a colorized photo (10.5 x 8 inches) of a player sliding head first into a base. The original matting (13 x 11 inches) features the company's name printed along the top, and the phrase "High Ball" printed along the base, each in gilt lettering. The display is housed in its original wood frame that bears the firm's name stamped along the base, "The Apollinaris Co. Ltd." This is apparently one of a series of Apollinaris baseball-theme advertising pieces from the era, as we have seen one other similarly designed example featuring Christy Mathewson which was long ago part of the legendary Halper Collection. Aside from some minor foxing and toning to the matting, the advertising display is in Excellent condition. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $290.00
