1939 Centennial of Baseball "Uncle Sam" Broadside
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $580.00
Spectacular patriotic broadside issued by the Minneapolis Millers in celebration of the Centennial of Baseball. Baseball and patriotism have long had a close association. Rarely has this relationship been captured more majestically than on this classic poster featuring Uncle Sam, set against the colorful red, white, and blue backdrop of the Baseball Centennial logo, created in celebration of Baseball's 100th anniversary. Praise of our National Pastime is simply stated along the base of the display: "His Game For 100 Years." The top banner urges support of the hometown club while the base of the lower portion of the display features the Millers home schedule for the 1939 season. The cardboard display (14 x 22 inches) is in Excellent condition overall with light border wear as well as a few minor unobtrusive surface imperfections. All of the colors are bold and vibrant. This broadside is the most impressive and ideal for display of the many items produced in 1939 to commemorate the Centennial of Baseball. Framed to slightly larger dimensions. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $580.00
