Circa 1933 Lin Storti St. Louis Browns Game-Used Home Jersey

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $7,540.00

Rare St. Louis Browns home flannel jersey worn by utility infielder Lin Storti in 1933. The white flannel jersey features the club's distinctive intertwined "SL" logo on the left sleeve and the number "24" on the reverse. All letters and numerals have been appliquéd in brown felt. Gold braid piping adorns the collar, button panel and each sleeve end. A "Spalding" label is situated in the collar, to the right of which appears the name "Storti" chain-stitched in red. Original and unaltered, the jersey displays moderate wear including minor tears to the gold piping along the collar. However, the jersey remains in a fine state of preservation and is free of any significant stains, tears or moth holes so commonly found in game-used garments of this vintage. Despite their lack of success on the field, St. Louis Browns memorabilia has always been extremely popular with collectors, especially game-worn jerseys. Storti played with the Browns from 1930 to 1933; however, 1933 was the only season in which he wore number 24. St. Louis Browns flannels from this era are virtually nonexistent. This particularly rare "style jersey" is one of six 1930s Browns jerseys that surfaced in an exciting find several years ago. When those jerseys were sold, this example was judged by our consignor to be the finest of the collection in terms of condition. It was also one of only two jerseys from the find that was all original, with no alterations or number change. Graded A9 by Mears (with one point deducted for the minor tears to the gold piping along the collar). LOA from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$4,000. SOLD FOR $7,540.00
