1956 to 1973 Pro Model Cap Collection (7)

Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $464.00

Collection of seven different styles of professional model Major League baseball caps dating from the late 1950s to the early 1970s. A few of the caps can be attributed to specific players due to the inclusion of vintage uniform numbers written upon the underside of the brim. 1) 1956-64 St. Louis Cardinals Cap. Navy cap with interlocking ("STL") in red/white letters on the front. "Harry Walker Pro Model" manufacturer's label. Only remnants of the size tag remain (the hat is approximately 7-1/8). The number "8" is written in faded black marker on the underside of the brim. Five different players wore number "8" from 1956 to 1964. Light to moderate wear. 2) 1960s New York Mets Cap. Blue cap with interlocking "NY" in orange letters on the front. Both the manufacturer's label and size tag have been removed (cut from the headband). The initials "J. R." are written in black marker on the underside of the brim. Minimal wear, with a split along the back seam of the headband. 3) 1960s Los Angeles Dodgers Cap. Blue cap with interlocking "LA" in white letters on the front. "Tim McAuliffe/KM Pro" manufacturer's label and "7" size tag. A partial imprint of a name, made by a dyno label (since removed), remains visible on the underside of the brim. Light wear. 4) 1968-69 Atlanta Braves Cap Attributed to Jim Britton. Navy cap with white "A" on the front. "Km Pro" manufacturer's label and "7-5/8" stamped on the leather headband. The number "42" is written in black marker on the underside of the brim. Jim Britton wore number "42" in both 1968 and 1969. Moderate wear with two separate breaks to the cardboard comprising the interior portion of the brim. 5) 1965-70 Houston Astros Cap. Navy cap with orange star and white "H" on the front. "New Era" manufacturer's label and "7-5/8" size tag. No wear, like new. 6) Late 1960s/Early 1970s New York Mets Cap. Blue cap with interlocking "NY" in orange letters on the front. "New Era" manufacturer's label. Both the size "7-1/8" and the number "34" are written in black marker on the underside of the brim. Both Cal Koonce and Danny Frisella wore number "34" from 1968 through 1972. Light wear. 7) 1971-73 Los Angeles Dodgers Cap Attributed to Willie Davis. Blue cap with interlocking "LA" in white letters on the front. "New Era" manufacturer's label and "7-3/8" size tag. The number "3" is written in black marker on the underside of the brim. Willie Davis wore number "3" during the years 1971-73. Moderate wear. LOA from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS. Total 7 caps. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $464.00
