1967 Ron Taylor NY Mets Game-Used Home Flannel Jersey
Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $4,640.00
New York Mets home flannel jersey worn by pitcher Ron Taylor in 1967. The white pinstripe jersey is lettered "Mets" across the front and features the number "42" on the left breast and reverse. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in blue felt on orange tackle twill. The distinctive New York Mets circular team patch appears on the left sleeve. The size, year and uniform number ("44 67 42") of the garment are chain-stitched in blue upon a white strip tag in the collar. Located on the left front tail are a "Spalding" label, a "44" size tag, a wash tag and an adjacent flag tag reading "Set 1 1967." The jersey is original, with no alterations, and displays moderate wear throughout. 1967 marked Ron Taylor's first year with the Mets. Used strictly in relief, he finished the year with a 4-6 record, with a team-high eight saves, and a 2.34 ERA. These were particularly respectable numbers considering the fact that the Mets lost a League high 101 games in 1967. Two years later Taylor played an integral role in the Mets 1969 World Championship. Graded a perfect A10 by MEARS. LOA from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000.
