1969 Willie Davis LA Dodgers Game-Used Road Flannel Jersey

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $1,624.00

Los Angeles Dodgers road flannel jersey worn by Willie Davis in 1969. The gray road jersey is lettered "Los Angeles" across the front and features the number "3" on the left breast and reverse. All letters and the reverse number are appliquéd in blue felt. The front number is appliquéd in red felt. A Major League Baseball "100th Anniversary" patch (worn by all Major League clubs in 1969) adorns the left sleeve. The name "Davis" and the year "69" are each chain-stitched in blue on the left front tail. Also located on the left front tail are a "Rawlings 42" label, a wash tag, and an adjacent flag tag reading "Set 1 1969." The jersey is all original, with no alterations, and displays moderate wear throughout, including the loss of the bottom button and a very tiny tear on the reverse (just to the right of the number). Outfielder Willie Davis, considered one of the fastest players of his era, joined the Dodgers in 1960 and remained with the club through the 1973 season. During that span, he helped lead the club to three pennants and two World Championships. 1969 represented one of his finest overall seasons. Davis batted .311 with 11 home runs, 59 RBI, and 24 stolen bases. He also made headlines by hitting safely in 31 straight games (the longest consecutive game hitting streak in twenty-four years). Graded A9 by MEARS (base grade of 10, with a half-point each deducted for the missing bottom button and the tiny tear on the reverse). LOA from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,624.00
