1975 Carlton Fisk Boston Red Sox Signed Game-Used Home Jersey
Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $5,800.00
Dating from the pennant winning season of 1975, this white knit jersey is lettered "Red Sox" across the front and features Fisk's number "27" on the reverse. All letters and numbers are appliquéd in red on blue twill. A Massachusetts Bicentennial patch appears on the left sleeve. Situated on the front tail, all adjacent to each other, are a "McAuliffe" label; a "43" size tag; a "1975" year tag and a wash tag. Original and unaltered, the jersey displays light wear. Fisk has signed the jersey in blue Sharpie ("9") on the right breast. The 1975 season began on a sour note for Fisk, as he injured his shoulder during spring training and missed the first third of the season. Returning to the lineup in June, he quickly made up for lost time, batting at a torrid .331 clip for the remainder of the season and leading the Red Sox to their first pennant in eight years. Although the World Series against the Reds was punctuated by spectacular plays and memorable moments, it was Fisk who "stole the show." His dramatic game-winning home run in the 12th inning of Game Six remains not only one of the most unforgettable moments in baseball history but the defining moment of his career as well. "Pudge" eventually retired in 1993 as the all-time record holder in games caught (2,226) and for home runs as a catcher (376, since surpassed by Mike Piazza). He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2000. Graded A8 by Mears. LOAs from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS and James Spence/JSA and Steve Grad, Mike Gutierrez & Zach Rullo/PSA DNA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$4,000. SOLD FOR $5,800.00
