Circa 1995 Randy Johnson Game-Used Glove

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,204.00

Rawlings pro-model fielder's glove used by five-time Cy Young Award winner Randy Johnson during the mid 1990s. The black model "Pro-28CB" left-handed fielder's glove features Johnson's nickname, "Big Unit," embroidered in gold-stitch along the outside thumb. As was his customary style, a black Rawlings wristband, turned inside out, has been applied over the wrist strap. The glove displays considerable use and all of the lacing remains intact. The glove is accompanied by a 1995 issue of Mariner's Magazine (vol. 6, issue 3) featuring a cover photo of Johnson wearing a nearly identical glove, including the black inside-out wristband on the reverse. Standing at a height of six-feet, ten inches tall and armed with a fast ball clocked at upwards of 98 miles per hour, Randy Johnson is certainly one of the most imposing figures ever to take the mound. Today, his current Hall of Fame resume includes 263 wins, 4,372 strikeouts (third all-time), one pitching Triple Crown (2002) and five Cy Young Awards. Gloves are far rarer than other types of player equipment such as bats and uniforms. Like a new pair of shoes, a glove needs to be broken into the personal specifications of the player, a process which can only be accomplished by use. This is an outstanding piece of game-used equipment dating from Johnson's glory days with the Seattle Mariners in the mid 1990s. LOA from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $2,204.00
