1950-1960 Duke Snider Signed Pro Model Bat
Starting Bid - $2,000.00, Sold For - $10,440.00
Presented is an extraordinary 1950s Duke Snider bat. 1950s Duke Snider signature-style game bats are particularly rare. This is, in fact, one of only two examples ever authenticated by MEARS, and is by far the finest and highest-graded example. The H&B signature model "C117L" bat features deep and distinct manufacturing stampings throughout and has been signed by Snider in black marker ("8") along the sweet spot of the barrel. Snider's uniform number ("4") is written on the end of the barrel in vintage, slightly faded, black marker. Moderate use is displayed in the form of rack marks, cleat marks and the outline of Snider's characteristic "crisscross" tape wrapping along the handle. That distinct and unique pattern, which is the one trait most often looked for by collectors of Snider bats, is well documented and greatly adds both to the aesthetics of the bat and its provenance. The bat has been graded A9 by MEARS. The base grade was five as an ideal professional model bat, with two-and-a-half points added for use, one point added for the tape pattern, and a half-point added for the vintage uniform number on the knob. Length: 35 inches. Weight: 32 ounces. LOAs from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS and James Spence/JSA and Steve Grad, Mike Gutierrez, Zach Rullo/PSA DNA. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000/$6,000+.
