Mike Tyson Signed Personal American Express Card
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $1,392.00
American Express credit card issued to and signed on the reverse by Mike Tyson, former world heavyweight boxing champion. The standard size credit card was valid from the dates "12/01" through "01/02" and makes note that Tyson had been a member since 1995. Tyson has signed the card in blue ink on the reverse in the appropriate area. The signature, while clearly legible, is slightly faded and displays mild bleeding, grading "5." Although Tyson most likely carried this American Express credit card wherever he went, as one of the most famous people in the world, it is unlikely that the former World Heavyweight boxing champion needed this card to identify himself. In 1986, at the age of twenty, "Iron Mike" became the youngest heavyweight champion in history. Over the next four years Tyson dominated the heavyweight division and reigned as boxing's greatest draw. Unfortunately, a series of personal problems, including a three-year prison term for rape, severely curtailed his once promising career. Despite the decline of his boxing skills, Tyson has kept in the public eye to this day and he remains one of the most recognizable sports personalities of our time. The card (3.25 x 2.25 inches) is in Excellent condition and has been mounted together with a black-and-white print of Tyson. Total dimensions: 13.5 x 21 inches. LOAs from James Spence/JSA and Steve Grad, Mike Gutierrez & Zach Rullo/PSA DNA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $1,392.00
