Classic 1924 Davis - Bryan Jugate Campaign Pinback

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,204.00

Presented is a spectacular high-grade example of one of political collecting's rarest and most desirable jugates. Davis-Bryan has always been one of the few extreme rarities among political campaign jugate celluloid pinbacks. The 1924 presidential election produced far less campaign material than all but the 1920 campaign, and very few jugate campaign pins were produced for this election featuring both the presidential and vice-presidential candidates for either party. This classic 7/8-inch celluloid, manufactured by Bastion Brothers, is one of the few. Featuring identified portraits of John Davis and running mate Charles Bryan (the younger brother of William Jennings Bryan) against a black background, with the union bug design below, this is the classic jugate for these rare candidates from the 1924 campaign. Perfect gloss. Flawless manufacture with unimprovable tight collett. The pinback is in Excellent to Mint condition. The pin actually appears Mint, but we can see the tiniest indentation on the curl at 3:00, not visible from the front, and barely visible when viewed from the side and rotated under strong light at the proper angle, almost certainly as made. This is one of the highest-grade examples in existence of one of the key rarities in all of political button collecting. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $2,204.00
