1993 President George Bush Signed Limited-Edition Yale Baseball Jersey (#86/100)

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $812.00

Commemorative Yale baseball jersey, manufactured by Mitchell & Ness, signed by George H. W. Bush, forty-first President of the United States. This jersey originates from an exclusive 1997 private signing with the former President and is one of only 100 Yale jerseys signed by Bush. In years to come, we believe that collectors will have an increasing appreciation for this special limited edition. Bush has signed the jersey in black marker, vertically below the "E" in "Yale." The signature, which contrasts well against the light background, displays light bleeding due to the nature of the fabric and grades "7." A white tag, applied along the left front tail, bears the embroidered notation: "George Herbert Walker Bush - 41st President of the United States - January 20th, 1989-January 20th, 1993 - 86 of 100." Prior to his political career George Bush made a name for himself as captain of the Yale baseball team. In 1947 and 1948 Bush played first base for Yale, leading the Bulldogs to the College World Series, only to lose in the championship game each year. Following his collegiate career he remained an impassioned fan of our national pastime. The jersey bears the team name "Yale" on the front and the number "2" on the reverse in navy blue lettering. Near Mint condition. This a very substantial and attractive presidential signed display piece commemorating Bush's collegiate playing career. LOAs from James Spence/JSA and Steve Grad, Mike Gutierrez, Zach Rullo & John Reznikoff/PSA DNA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $812.00
