Mailing envelope signed by Martin Luther King Jr., postmarked Aug. 30, 1960 from Atlanta, Georgia, and addressed to Mrs. C. Herbert Small, 121 Cole St., San Francisco, Calif. The envelope is beautifully signed Martin Luther King, Jr. ("9") in blue ballpoint pen in the upper left. One of the stamps and the postmark have special significance as Dr. King was born and also ordained as a minister in Atlanta, and one of the postage stamps is a "Centennial of Booker T. Washington" 3-cent stamp. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a vital figure of the modern era. His leadership, courage, and selfless devotion to the civil rights movement sparked the conscience of a generation, and played an extraordinarily significant role in bringing positive changes to the American way of life. His charismatic leadership provided inspiration to men and women, young and old, in this nation and around the world, which is felt to this day. The envelope is in Excellent condition.
