Circa Late 1950s Horoscope Scale
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For -
This large, freestanding coin-op, produced by the Watling Scale Co., dispenses a horoscope for a dime and reveals a person's weight for just a penny. These porcelain scales were common sights in Woolworth's and other five-and-ten stores during the 1950s. To operate the device, a customer would first step on the scale and select his or her respective astrological sign along the top portion of the machine. After the insertion of the coin, a horoscope would be dispensed (in the form of a printed scroll). The customer's weight would be revealed on the top dial. This particular model remains in its original working state; however, the supply of horoscope cards has been exhausted. Dimensions: 16 (W) x 24 (D) x 62.5 (H) inches. Please Note: due to the size and/or weight of this lot, shipping charges may be substantial. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR
