1940s Pedal Car Barber Chair
Starting Bid - $2,000.00, Sold For -
Highly desirable pedal car barber chair dating from the 1940s. In the "old days," chairs such as this were not an uncommon site at barbershops that catered to very young customers. This custom-made barber chair, which features a hydraulic lift, was designed for use by youngsters in the hopes that by sitting in a pedal car, he or she would be amused long enough to allow the barber to do his job. This is an extraordinary example. The car featured here is a classic from the era: a Buick "Woody." The car includes gold pinstriping, a brass steering wheel, a windshield frame, hubcaps, and grill. Accentuating the design of the chair is the fact that all of the trim has been done in brass, rather than the standard chrome. The chair has been completely refurbished and is in perfect working order. Dimensions: 15.5 (W) x 39 (D) x 42 (H) inches. Please Note: due to the size and/or weight of this lot, shipping charges may be substantial. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $3,000+. SOLD FOR
