Circa 1960s "Ask Grandma" Fortune-Teller Machine

Starting Bid - $2,000.00, Sold For - $5,800.00

This particular "fortune-teller" machine can be rightly called the "Grand Mammy" of all such arcade pieces. Titled "Ask Grandma," the elaborately designed piece features a life-size mannequin of "grandma" sitting within the glass-enclosed both. A crystal ball and a deck of cards sit on the ledge in front of her. The insertion of a coin lights the crystal ball and sets the machine in motion. Grandma's chest, both hands, eyes, and head move during her reading of the cards, and when she is finished a fortune card drops into the receptacle below. "Is this your lucky day?" Just ask Grandma, for as the sign says, she "Sees - Knows - Tells All." The machine bears a "Deco Inc." label on the side and remains in perfect working order. This is an extraordinary arcade piece, universally recognized as a classic, and a piece that is sure to be the focal point of any room in which it resides, be it home or office. Please Note: due to the size and/or weight of this lot, shipping charges may be substantial. Reserve. $2,000. Estimate $3,000+. SOLD FOR $5,800.00
