Collection of James Rosenquist Limited-Edition Signed Prints (6)

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $3,770.00

James Rosenquist was one of the leaders of the pop art movement during the 1960s and he drew upon his commercial art background to create evocative works of fragmented and recombined images. Embracing large-scale works, he first gained international recognition in 1965 with his monumental painting F-111, a 10 x 86-inch oil on aluminum painting which now resides in The Museum of Modern Art in New York. Other notable works of his include Horse Blinders (1969), Horizon Home Sweet Home (1970), Flamingo Capsule (1970), Star Thief (1980), and the three-painting suite The Swimmer in the Econo-mist (1988). In addition to his paintings, Rosenquist was also prolific in his production of prints, drawings, and collages. In 1992 he produced Time Dust, a print that is thought to be the largest ever produced, measuring 7 x 35 feet. Like most pop art, Rosenquist's works are hard to describe, but unforgettable when seen. In attempting to describe the nature of his work he was once quoted as stating, "I'm interested in the speed of recognition of color in space and the acceleration of nostalgia into the future." Believe it or not, many of his works do reflect that interest. Offered are six limited-edition signed prints created by James Rosenquist. The artist has signed and dated each print in pencil in the lower right.
