Original Sanjulian Cover Art Painting for Creepy #46 (Mar. 1972)
Starting Bid - $2,000.00, Sold For - $7,540.00
Presented is a magnificent Creepy cover painting by Sanjulian, featuring a particularly ghoulish scene of a vampire rising from his tomb, with a hideous creature observing from behind. Just another Saturday night at Warren Publishing. This is one of Warren Publishing's most famous and most often reproduced works. First published as the cover to Creepy #46 in March of 1972, this is one of those Warren paintings that represents the entire genre of vintage horror fantasy art, and qualifies as one of the few paintings comprising "The Soul of Warren Publishing." It is instantly recognizable, in large part because it has been reproduced so many times in books, magazines, trading cards, and on many Warren Publications products. This work has never before been offered. Oil on canvas. 15 x 20 inches. In virtually flawless Near Mint condition. Included with the cover painting is a copy of the published magazine. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000/$6,000. SOLD FOR $7,540.00
