1909-1911 T206 White Borders Rare "Uzit" Backs Collection (26)
Starting Bid - $2,000.00, Sold For - $22,040.00
Collection of twenty-six different T206 cards, each featuring the rare "Uzit" tobacco advertisement on the reverse. The twenty-six cards in this lot, along with the other seven Uzit backs in this auction, represent the largest find of these rare back T206s that we can recall being offered at a single time. All of these cards were very recently found in a collection of just 160 T206s consigned to Robert Edward Auctions. We were amazed to find such a high concentration of rare backs. It is always exciting to inform collectors or noncollectors that cards they thought were relatively modest in value are extremely valuable, and this was certainly one of those occasions. These cards were saved by our consignor's grandfather, who collected these cards as a youngster in 1910, and have remained in the family ever since. The collection is comprised of the following: Berger (Gd-Vg), Bradley/bat (Vg), Chase/trophy (Vg), Conroy/bat (Vg), Jordan/Bklyn - bat (Vg), Lake/St. Louis - no ball (Vg), Latham (Gd-Vg), Leach/bending (Vg), Leifield/bat (Vg), Manning/pitch (Vg), McQuillan/bat (Gd-Vg), Merkle/throw (Vg), Mullin/bat (Vg), Overall/face level (Vg), Pelty/vertical (Vg), Pfeister/throw (Vg), Schaefer/Wash. (Vg), Schlei/bat (Gd), Seymour/port. (Vg), Smith/Chicago & Boston (upper right corner missing, otherwise Fr-Gd), Steinfeldt/bat (Vg), Wagner/bat on right (Vg), White/Chicago pitch (Gd), Wilhelm/bat (Gd), Wiltse/pitch (Gd), and Wiltse/port. w/cap (trimmed, otherwise Gd). Total 26 cards. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000/$6,000. SOLD FOR $22,040.00
