1909 E90-1 American Caramel Willie Keeler - Throwing
Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $2,320.00
Graded EX 5 by PSA. Only one example graded higher. High-grade example of Hall of Famer Wee Willie Keeler in the throwing pose from the highly desirable E90-1 American Caramel series. For a caramel card, PSA EX 5 is all the more impressive a grade. This is one of the rarest cards in the E90-1 American Caramel set. Similar to the Cracker Jack of Mathewson that was issued in two poses (though one in the #144 set and the other in the #176 set), Keeler is a key Hall of Famer that has two poses in E90-1 set. The portrait pose is relatively common. The horizontal throwing pose is extremely rare, and one of the key rarities of the set. Bright and clean, both front and back, with a bold red background, just a hint of a caramel stain, a touch of wear to the corners (predominately upper right), and with virtually perfect registration. This is an exceptional example of a key Hall of Famer rarity from the most popular caramel card set of the era. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $2,320.00
