1953 Johnston Cookies Braves Complete PSA Graded Set (25)

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $812.00

Complete set of 1953 Johnston Cookies Braves cards, entirely graded by PSA. The regionally issued 1953 Johnston Cookie set features only Milwaukee Braves players. One card was inserted in each box of cookies. Complete sets were also made available from Johnston Cookies through a premium mail-in offer. The offered set is one of only two completely graded sets on the PSA "set registry." The PSA grades are as follows: Seven NM 7: #10 Spahn, 16, 18, 20, 22, 23, 24. Four EX-MT 6: #1, 3, 5, 21 Mathews. Four EX 5: #2, 9, 14, 19. Nine VG-EX 4: #4, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 15, 17 (MK), 25. One VG 3: #8. These cards were part of a significant find of regional cards discovered by Robert Edward Auctions in 1976, originating directly from a former employee of Milprint, the Milwaukee-based printing company responsible for many of the most popular regional issues of the 1950s including Johnston Cookies, Hunters Weiners, Stahl Meyers, and Dan Dee Potato Chips. The set was purchased by our consignor at that time and has been kept ever since. This is an extremely attractive, very bright, clean high-grade complete set from the golden years of regional issues. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $812.00
