1971 Topps Vending Hoard (500 cards)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,480.00

Crisp, fresh vending hoard of 500 1971 Topps baseball cards (straight from a vending box). The black flush-to-the-border design of the 1971 Topps set makes this issue particularly challenging to collect in extremely high-grade. This hoard of vending-fresh high-grade examples could provide the foundation for a high-grade set and at the same time provide quality inventory to trade or fill want lists. A high percentage of these cards are well centered, with the fresh look which vending-quality cards from this era display. Although the numbers range exclusively from 161 through 643 (late-in-the-year packaged vending boxes included mixed series), large selections of players and teams are featured, with duplication restricted mostly to single-digit quantities of any one card. Sixty-four cards (including twenty-two HOFers) have been graded and encapsulated by SGC: nine MINT 96s, fourteen NM/MT+ 92s, twenty-seven NM/MT 88s, six NM+ 86s, and eight NM 84s. Hall of Famers and stars included are #361 Sutton (Nr/Mt), 384 Fingers (Ex-Mt), 400 Aaron (NM 84), 450 Gibson (NM 84), 477 Weaver, 513 Ryan (95/5 T/B, otherwise Nr/Mt), two 525 Banks (NM+ 86 and NM 7), two 530 Yaz (MINT 96 and NM/MT 88), three 550 Killebrew (NM/MT 88, NM+ 86, NM 84), three 567 Alston (MINT 96 and two Ex-Mt), four 570 Palmer (NM/MT+ 92, NM/MT 88, NM+ 86, NM 84), three 574 Bunning (NM/MT 88 and two Nr/Mt), four 580 Perez (NM 84, 2 Ex-Mt and 1 Ex), 600 Mays (NM 84), two 605 Cepeda (NM/MT 88 and Nr/Mt), four 609 Durocher (2 Nr/Mt and 2 Ex-Mt), 625 Brock (MINT 96), two 630 Clemente (NM/MT 88 and Ex-Mt), and two 640 F. Robinson (NM+ 86 and NM 84). The condition is uniformly high-grade throughout, with a full 80% grading Nr/Mt or better and 20% grading Ex-Mt due to centering issues. Most of these cards are suitable candidates for professional grading or ideal for upgrading a high-grade set. Also included is the original vending box. Total 500 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $3,480.00
