Circa 1940s Ed Walsh Single-Signed Baseball
Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $6,960.00
Official American League (Harridge) baseball (1940 to 1945 Reach style) signed on a side panel by legendary Hall of Famer Ed Walsh. Signed "Ed A. Walsh" ("7/8") in blue ink. The remnant of a badly faded ink notation (does not appear to be a signature) remains barely visible on a side panel (not even noticeable except upon close inspection). Due to his passing in 1959, long before Hall of Fame single-signed baseballs were in fashion, single-signed baseballs of Walsh are among the most difficult and desirable "singles" to obtain in high grade. This spectacular example originates from the personal collection of White Sox minor league director Glen Miller. This is an ideal example of this rare Hall of Famer single-signed baseball. The ball is extremely clean and attractive, very slightly toned, with clear and legible manufacturer's stampings. Excellent condition. LOAs from James Spence/JSA and Steve Grad, Mike Gutierrez & Zach Rullo/PSA DNA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $6,960.00
