1955 Pittsburgh Pirates Team-Signed Baseball - Roberto Clemente's Rookie Season (PSA 7.5)
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,190.00
Official National League (Giles) ball, dating from Roberto Clemente's rookie season, signed in blue ink by the following twenty-five members of the 1955 Pittsburgh Pirates: Clemente, Shepard, Kline, J. O'Brien, Friend, Littlefield, Hall, Ward, Surkont, E. O'Brien, Thomas, Lynch, Waters, Haney (sweet spot), Fitzpatrick (sweet spot, coach), Law, Sukeforth (coach), Narron (coach), Atwell, Cole, Saffell, Mejias, Montemayor, Face and Long. Clemente's signature grades ("8/9") and it is interesting to note that he has scripted his name in the ideal standard fashion (first and last name on the same plane) rather than placing his first name above his last (the manner in which he normally signed throughout his career following his rookie season). The other signatures are all very uniform in grade, averaging "8/9" as well. All of the manufacturer's stampings are bold and crisp. The ball is in Excellent to Mint condition, extremely bright, clean, and free of imperfections. This is an extraordinary ball, and by far the finest Pittsburgh Pirates team ball we have ever offered dating from Roberto Clemente's rookie season. Graded NM+ 7.5 by PSA DNA. LOAs from James Spence/JSA and Steve Grad, Mike Gutierrez & Zach Rullo/PSA DNA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $3,190.00
