Roger Maris Signed Souvenir Card
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $696.00
Circa 1980 Roger Maris souvenir photo card (4.5 x 7 inches) is beautifully signed "Roger Maris" ("9") in black Sharpie marker. After his playing days, Maris started a new career. With the help of Anheuser-Busch, who owned the Cardinals (Maris' last team), Maris opened a beer distributorship in central Florida. Knowing the distributorship was owned by Roger Maris, customers would ask for a souvenir of the legendary slugger, and he also received requests by mail, so to satisfy requests Maris had these cards printed up which he sometimes signed. The card features an image of Maris hitting home run number 61, with the caption "New York, October 1, 1961...Connecting for No. 61." The card is printed on a slightly heavy stock with a glossy finish. Near Mint condition. LOAs from James Spence/JSA and Steve Grad, Mike Gutierrez & Zach Rullo/PSA DNA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $696.00
