1887 N172 Old Judge Hall of Famer Collection (4)
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $3,190.00
Collection of four Hall of Famers from the classic N172 Old Judge series, all encapsulated by SGC: Jake Beckley (fielding, ball knee high), Charlie Comiskey (fielding, hands chin high), Roger Connor (bat off shoulder, name in script), Pud Galvin (ball in hands above waist, P.). All four cards in this group could not be numerically graded, but have been deemed "Authentic" by SGC. Each is a very attractive card with an approximately Vg-Ex appearance (Comiskey slightly lesser), though each, of course, has specific reasons why it was encapsulated only as "Authentic." Galvin was not graded simply because it has a very pronounced natural flawed cut; Beckley is short side-to-side (possibly trimmed along left border); Connor has a slight trim along the bottom border; and Comiskey has a very slightly irregular cut at the top, along with a couple of tiny pin holes in the background. We think the cut on Comiskey is natural and this card qualifies for numerical grading. The backs of the cards (except Connor) have glue, tape, or soiling. All four have excellent photo clarity, with Galvin and Comiskey having particularly strong contrast. Total 4 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $3,190.00
