1887-1889 N172 Old Judge SGC Graded Collection (7)

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $1,044.00

Collection of seven N172 Old Judges, each graded and encapsulated by SGC: Faatz (Cleveland, VG/EX 50), Gore (NY, FAIR 20), Gruber (Cleveland, VG/EX 50) copyright dated 1889, McGlone (Cleveland, GOOD 30), Richardson (NY, VG 40), Schoch (Washington, POOR 10), and Silch (Brooklyn, VG 40). Many collectors assume that Old Judges are only possible to collect with a huge budget, but occasionally small groups of very respectable mid-grade examples are available. This is a very pleasing small group of mid- to low-grade cards from the most important set of the nineteenth century, including a particularly strong 1889-dated example of Cleveland pitcher Henry Gruber, who jumped to the Players League in 1890 and was Cleveland's star pitcher that year. Total 7 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,044.00
