Signed 1948 Hall of Fame Exhibit Cards (4) With Cobb and Young
Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $4,350.00
Four 1948 Baseball's Great Hall of Fame exhibit cards, each signed on the front by the respective player: Ty Cobb, Cy Young, Grover Alexander and Tris Speaker. Each of these is a key signed rarity in the 1948 Hall of Fame Exhibit set. Cobb has signed in his customary green ink ("10") and has also added the date, "8/17/50," below his signature. The Young ("9") and Alexander ("5/6") signatures are scripted in blue ink, and Speaker's signature ("10") is executed in black ink. All of these players, with the exception of Cobb, passed away within ten years of this set being issued, thus making this a particularly rare assemblage of vintage key Hall of Famer signed cards. Each of the cards (3.25 x 5.25 inches) has tape remnants in corners, with the Young card also having had the corners very slightly clipped; a stray blue ink mark (0.5 inches) appears on the left border of the Cobb card; all four cards are otherwise in Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Total: 4 cards. LOAs from James Spence/JSA and Steve Grad, Mike Gutierrez & Zach Rullo/PSA DNA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $4,350.00
