1910 to 1930 Hall of Famer-Endorsed Cigar Box and Label Collection (3)

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $696.00

Collection of three classic player-endorsed cigar items: 1) Circa 1910 cigar label advertising for Hughie Jennings. The slogan at the top reads "Hey-Yea" "Get-A-Lead" in gold-trimmed embossed lettering. The oval photo in the center depicts Jennings in his trademark jumping pose with two smaller in-action scenes on either side. 7.25 x 9 inches. Minor edge imperfections and toning, otherwise in Excellent condition. 2) Circa 1920s Joe Tinker Cigar Box. This wooden cigar box has a gold-bordered oval label on the top of the lid which reads "Joe Tinker - Cigars." The box opens to reveal a full-color label picturing Tinker in a coat and tie. A side label features a smaller version of the same portrait. Also included is a store display glass slide with metal rim reading "Joe Tinker - Now 5 cents" in red, which is specially designed to keep the interior lid properly displayed when on the cigar store counter, and the cigars fresh while on display in the store. The labels on the lid (interior and exterior) and the side are bright and clean, in Excellent to Mint condition. Both the box and glass slide are in Excellent condition. Dimensions: 9.5 x 5.5 x 1.5 inches. 3) Circa 1930 Al Simmons Cigar Box. Al Simmons' name printed on the top of the lid. The interior label features an oval photo of Simmons in his signature batting stance as a member of the Philadelphia A's. "Milwaukee's Favorite" is printed directly below. A smaller label with this same image appears on the outside of the box as well, covering a side panel and a portion of the bottom. Produced by Erlinda Cigar Co. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The interior label is in Near Mint condition. The box exhibits some light wear (the words "glass coasters" is written in red on the lid), and is otherwise in Excellent condition. Total 3 items (two boxes plus Jennings cigar label). Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $696.00
