1887 Prang Baseball Lithograph

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $580.00

Manufactured by well-known lithograph Prang in 1887, this famous print features a colorful game-in-progress scene. This particular baseball lithograph has always been highly prized by collectors both for its exceptional graphics and the fact that the player depicted seated on the end of the bench, legs crossed, is none other than Cap Anson, the premier player of his era. The print displays a number of minor flaws including light staining along the top border, a few small vertical tears at the top, and a few light abrasions. The print still presents beautifully and potentially represents a relatively affordable and ideal-for-display example of this classic nineteenth-century art print in Very Good condition. Dimensions: 22 x 15.75 inches, matted to slightly larger dimensions. Reserve $300. Estimate $600/$1,200. SOLD FOR $580.00
