1900-1950 Baseball Watch Fob Collection (38)

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $696.00

In "the old days," watch fobs were an accessory all gentlemen carried. Presented is an extraordinary collection of thirty-eight baseball-theme watch fobs dating to the first half of the twentieth century. Included are many exceptional rarities. These decorative fobs each display a baseball figure or motif on the front, and average approximately 1.25 inches in diameter. Twenty-nine different fobs are represented here (nine are duplicates) and seventeen pieces are accompanied by their original metal chain or leather strap. Three of the fobs are in the form of advertising pieces (two are pocket baseball scorers). A few bear the names of either a league or association. One is Japanese in origin and is engraved in Japanese on the reverse. One of the fobs was manufactured by D&M, while two others were produced by the Winchester Sporting Goods Company. This collection was assembled one fob at a time by a very dedicated collector over a period of twenty years. Putting together a collection of even a dozen baseball-theme watch fobs is challenging. A collection of thirty-eight baseball watch fobs is extraordinary. The majority of the pieces display light wear and some have tarnishing, otherwise Excellent condition overall. Total: 38 fobs. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $696.00
