1903 Boston Americans March Sheet Music
Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $1,160.00
1903 Boston Americans March sheet music, dedicated to the "Boston American Baseball Team, Champions of the World," features a magnificent bat-at-side photograph of player/manager Jimmy Collins on the cover. Baseball has long been an inspiration for songwriters and during the turn of the century it was customary to dedicate songs to local teams. While we are not sure if this particular tune was popular with fans nationally, one can rest assured that it was probably played continuously at "Nuff Said" McGreevey's Third Base Saloon throughout the winter of 1903 and through the following spring. The photo of Collins is credited to Horner. The song was composed by J. Ignatius Coveney and published in 1903 by Cecilian Music Company, Hyde Park, Massachusetts. This is an exceptional and extremely visually appealing sheet music, dating from the most glorious days of the Royal Rooters, commemorating the Boston Americans' momentous victory over the Pirates in the first ever World Series. The sheet music (10.5 x 13.75 inches) displays a few slight border tears and creases, and is in Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. . SOLD FOR $1,160.00
