1925 Fred Clarke National League "Golden Jubilee" Baseball Pass
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $1,160.00
Baseball pass issued to Hall of Fame manager/player Fred Clarke in 1925 on the occasion of the National League's "Golden Jubilee" 50th anniversary. The leather-bound pass is presented in the form of a leather wallet (3.25 x 2.75 inches) that opens up to reveal a circular gold medallion insert (we believe this is 14K but cannot remove to see stamp on reverse), designed in the shape of a baseball, set within a velvet matting. The gold medallion reads "1876-1925 National League Golden Jubilee" in blue. Printed in gilt lettering upon the interior front cover is the number "72" (denoting the issue number of the pass) and Clarke's full name, "Mr. Fred. C. Clark." (misspelled). The National League's fiftieth anniversary was celebrated with great fanfare. This pass was designed to be saved as a special keepsake, though we can only recall previously seeing a couple of these offered in years past. The exterior binding displays light wear. The interior portions remain in Excellent condition. The gold medallion is in Mint condition. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $1,160.00
