1935 "Dizzy and Daffy Dean Base Ball Play Suit" in Original Box

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $1,624.00

Housing an "Official Dizzy and Daffy Dean Base Ball Play Suit," this colorful retail box features large portrait images of both Dizzy and Daffy on the cover. Produced by Sackman Bros., Inc., in 1935. This is one of the rarest and most attractive of all player-endorsed package designs. The box is accompanied by the original youth baseball uniform which has the team name "Braves" on the front of the jersey and a faded "Dizzy/Daffy" logo on the reverse. The pants display a comic "Jitterbug" character on the right leg. The hat is not included. The uniform is in Very Good condition. The box is in extraordinarily high-grade for this item, with just some very minor foxing and a small tear on the right apron (not affecting extraordinary display value and mentioned strictly for the sake of accuracy). This is a spectacular example of one of the best product display pieces of the era. Overall in Excellent condition. Dimensions: 11.25 x 14 x 1.5 inches. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $1,624.00
