Vintage Baseball Photos From the Estate of Yankee Scout Paul Krichell (10)

Collection of ten vintage baseball photos originating from the estate of Paul Krichell, chief scout of the New York Yankees. Krichell joined the Yankees as a scout in 1920 and remained with the club in that capacity until 1957. During his tenure he was responsible for signing, among others, Lou Gehrig, Tony Lazzeri, and Whitey Ford. Most of the photos date from the late 1920s/early 1930s and picture Yankee players. 1-2) Two New York Yankees team photos; each photo bears a "Thorne" photo credit (either on the front or reverse) and has been trimmed to its respective size (10 x 4 inches and 10 x 4.25 inches); one, which includes Gehrig but not Ruth, bears the pencil notation "1927" on the reverse, the other, which includes both Ruth and Gehrig, is undated, but appears to be circa 1927; both bear mounting remnants on the reverse, the dated photo is Vg, the other is Gd-Vg. 3) Photo of the Yankees coaching staff, circa 1930 (9.75 x 6.75 inches); "Thorne" photo credit on reverse; trimmed to current dimensions; mounting remnants on reverse; Vg. 4) George McBain photo of John McGraw taken at the 1911 World Series (3.5 x 5 inches); McBain's credit stamp and the date stamp "Oct 16 1911" appear on the reverse; McGraw's name is written on the front in black ink; trimmed to current dimensions; Vg. 5-6) Two photos of Lefty Gomez taken during spring training (each 3 x 4.75 inches); one Gd-Vg, the other Vg-Ex. 7) Photo of Yankee owner Jacob Ruppert talking with an unidentified Newark Bears player (5 x 4 inches); Vg-Ex. 8-9) Two photos of Frank Chance, circa 1914, as manager of the Yankees (each approximately 2.25 x 4.25 inches); both trimmed to current dimensions; one Ex, the other Vg, with a few edge tears. 10) Team photo of an unidentified team, although it is most possibly the St. Louis Browns, circa 1911 (6.75 x 3.5 inches); trimmed to current dimensions; Gd-Vg (Krichell was a member of the Browns in 1911 and 1912).
