1898 Cameo Pepsin Gum Pin Collection (3)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,972.00

Collection of three 1898 Cameo Pepsin Gum pins: Pappaulen (Cleveland), McMann (Brooklyn), and Burk (Cincinnati). All have extraordinary contrast. Pappaulen and McMann are in Nr/Mt to Mint condition with back papers intact; Burk has light surface crazing and no back paper. Cameo Pepsin Gum pins are one of the rarest and most significant of all baseball pinbacks. Issued as premiums with Cameo Pepsin Gum, they were the first baseball pinback set and one of the few baseball issues of any kind dating from the late 1890s. The extraordinary significance and rarity of Pepsins is just beginning to be recognized by collectors. These are three exceptionally strong examples. Total 3 pins. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $1,972.00
