Circa 1950s Polo Grounds Bullpen Chair
Starting Bid - $100.00, Sold For - $528.75
The Polo Grounds will always be remembered as one of baseball’s most storied ballparks, having served as the home for the New York Giants and, for a short time, the New York Yankees and New York Mets as well. Offered here is a rare and very unusual souvenir from that venerable park: a circa 1950s freestanding metal chair used by the pitchers while sitting in the bullpen. The chair is painted white and displays light wear throughout, including a few small chips to the paint. A small plastic plaque reading “Polo Grounds – Bullpen – NY Giants” has been affixed to the back rest. 14.5 x 15 x 32.25 inches. From the Barry Halper Collection. Reserve $100. Estimate $200/400. SOLD FOR $528.75
