Derek Jeter Signed Bat, 16 x 20 Photo, and Minor League Lineup Card (3)
Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $1,057.50
Barry Halper was, naturally, quite a Yankee fan. The following three items signed by Yankee team captain Derek Jeter were among the highlights of Barry Halper's collection of modern-day Yankee memorabilia: 1) Official Trenton Thunder dugout lineup card, from a game on May 9, 2001, that features Jeter batting second and playing shortstop. Jeter has signed the card in blue Sharpie ("10") along the top. The Trenton Thunder is a AA minor league affiliate of the New York Yankees and in 2001 Jeter played with the club from May 7th to May 11th during a rehab assignment. This is the actual card that hung in the team's dugout and is from a game against the New Haven Ravens. Jeter batted .444 during his five games with the club, all of which were victories. The card (9 x 15 inches) displays light wear commensurate with its former use and is in Excellent condition overall. A Major League Baseball authentication hologram label (#MT00070205) is affixed to the bottom right corner. 2) 16 x 20-inch color photo of Jeter taken during Game 3 of the 2001 ALDS in Oakland. The picture captures Jeter making the pivotal play of the series in which he ran across the field and relayed the outfielder's throw to the plate just in time to tag Giambi. That play not only won the game for the Yankees but is now considered one of the most memorable plays in post-season history. Jeter has inscribed the photo in blue Sharpie ("10") "To Barry - Best Wishes - Derek Jeter. " The photo displays a few extremely light surface wrinkles (barely noticeable) and is otherwise in Near Mint condition. It is accompanied by a COA from Steiner Sports and an affixed authentication hologram label from Major League Baseball (#MT00383170). 3) Derek Jeter commemorative bat, produced by H&B, signed by Jeter in blue Sharpie along the sweet spot ("10"). The bat features Jeter's name stamped on the barrel in block letters, above which is stamped "1996 AL Rookie of the Year." The bat measures 34 inches in length and is in Near Mint condition. From the Barry Halper Collection. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Total: 3 items (lineup card, photo, and bat). Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,057.50
