Joe Jackson Original Darryl Vlasak Painting

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $5,875.00

Stunning oil-on-canvas image of Joe Jackson by Darryl Vlasak. Signed and dated ("91") by the artist in the lower left. Jackson is seen here sitting on the steps of the dugout in 1917 as a member of the Chicago White Sox. Vlasak's paintings are characterized by an astounding sense of realism, and punctuated by a strict attention to every detail. This example is no exception. Even the lettering on the bats and balls is clearly legible and accurate for the period. Most collectors today have been exposed to Vlasak's work through his popular series of classic ballpark lithographs and prints, though in the world of fine art it is his paintings of baseball legends that define his greatest talent. Vlasak is also a highly regarded fine artist in the field of wildlife and nature scenes. This is a museum-caliber original artwork from baseball's master of photo-realism. The painting measures 20 x 24 inches and has been matted and framed to total dimensions of 25 x 29 inches. From the Barry Halper Collection. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $5,875.00
