1959 Willie Mays Signed San Francisco Giants Game-Used Home Pants
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $1,880.00
San Francisco Giants home pants worn by Hall of Fame outfielder Willie Mays in 1959. The white flannel pants feature a black-on-orange piping down the side of each leg and a button fly. "Mays" is chain-stitched in black along the waistband, as are both the size ("33") and inseam ("26") measurement of the pants. A "McAuliffe" label and adjacent "59" year tag appear on the waistband as does the number "60," which is written in faded black marker. Mays has signed the pants in blue ink (grading "8") on the waistband next to his sewn-in name. The pants are completely original, with no alterations, and display light wear with heavy staining throughout. These pants, as evidenced by the number "60" written in the waistband, were worn by Mays in 1959 and then later sent down for use in the minor leagues the following season. Mays batted .313 with 34 home runs, 125 runs scored and 104 RBI in 1959. Considered by many to be the greatest centerfielder in baseball history, he is also one of only three players, along with Aaron and Murray, to amass over 3,000 hits and 500 home runs in his career. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1979. LOAs from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS and James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $1,880.00
