1898 Cameo Pepsin Gum Buck Ewing Pin
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,937.50
1898 Cameo Pepsin Gum pin of Hall of Famer Buck Ewing, one of the nineteenth century's greatest stars, featuring him with the Cincinnati Reds. All Cameo Pepsins are extremely rare. This is an outstanding high-grade example of one of the key Hall of Famers in the set, with an exceptionally sharp portrait, a few very minor spots of foxing (extremely minor and mentioned strictly for the sake of accuracy), otherwise in Nr/Mt condition, and with the reverse advertising back paper perfectly clean and intact. Much rarer than their "card counterparts," key player Cameo Pepsin gum pins such as this prize example appear to many to offer a far better value than ninteenth-century baseball cards of the same players (which in many cases are actually more common), but this is likely to change in the years to come. Diameter: 1.25 inches. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $2,937.50
