1994 Rickey Henderson Oakland A's Jersey

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $1,880.00

Rickey Henderson Oakland A’s road jersey dating to the 1994 season. The gray knit jersey is lettered “Oakland” across the front and features the number “24” on both the left breast and reverse. “Henderson” is lettered on the reverse above the number. All letters and numbers are appliquéd in green on gold tackle twill. An Oakland A’s “elephant” patch appears on the left sleeve, while a Major League Baseball “125th Anniversary” patch adorns the right sleeve (conclusively dating the jersey to 1994). Situated on the left front tail are a “Russell Athletic 44” label and a laundry-care tag. The jersey is completely original, with no alterations, and displays light use. Henderson batted .260 with 6 home runs, 20 RBI, and 22 stolen bases in 87 games with Oakland in 1994. Henderson retired after the 2003 season as the game’s all-time leader in stolen bases (1,406) and one of only twenty-six players in history to have amassed 3,000 or more hits. Today, he is considered by many to be the greatest leadoff hitter in baseball history. Graded A5 by MEARS (no post-1987 jersey can achieve a higher grade than A5 without additional provenance). LOA from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $1,880.00
